Rene Jansen

Sculptor Rene Jansen has a background in art and design and in recent years has been a resident artist at the Cornbans Art centre.

His precisely executed reliefs constructed from a variety of contemporary materials are vibrant and embody a subtle appreciation of mystery.

Rene explains his sculptural process as one that starts with a plan but requires yielding to his chosen materials as their assemblage takes him in unforseen directions.

The viewers eye is at once disrupted and appeased as Rene engages intuitively to strike a balance between asymmetry and aesthetic harmony.

He has shown his sculptures in both group and solo exhibitions and works from his studio in Oratia in the Waitakere's.
