Ronja Schipper

22 years ago, Ronja left Germany for love, landing quite literally on the other side of the planet. It wasn’t easy at first, but by grounding herself in her values and weaving them into her work, she found a way to belong, through creating, sharing, and giving back to her community.

“I’m passionate about re-purposing discarded items and materials, turning them into meaningful objects of desire. Our planet is under pressure, and I believe every small act of re-use makes a difference.”

With roots in Europe, where “reduce, re-use, recycle” was second nature, Ronja now carries those values into her life as a mother of two teenage boys and into every piece she designs. For her, waste is not waste, it’s possibility. A chance to tell a new story.

“My husband says I’m great at making something out of nothing and he’s right. Scarcity sparks creativity. It forces us to see differently.”

When Ronja isn’t transforming old bike inner tubes into bold jewellery or experimenting with new textures and forms, you’ll find her in the garden doing yoga, playing her cello, hiking the Waitākere Ranges, or indulging in her love of dark chocolate.

Her work is more than jewellery, it’s a reminder of our relationship with the planet and the beauty that emerges when we choose to reimagine what we discard.

Come and see Ronja’s work, including her collaboration with LyZadie Design Studio, at the Ngahere Exhibition @thegreyplace this September — a celebration of craftsmanship and the natural world.

Step into a world of conscious design.
