Jeanine Clarkin

With close to three decades of sustainable fashion design under her belt, Jeanine is a true pioneer of sustainable Māori fashion, and her gorgeous pieces have been shown widely across Aotearoa and abroad. High fashion, founded in Matauranga Māori, her work is rich with references to Tukutuku, and provides a medium to explore colonisation and champion indigenous design.

Jeanine combines Haute Couture with Slow Fashion, drawing inspiration from the conceptual body of the Wharenui, Whare Tinana (body), Wairua (Spirit), Mauri (life force), and Te Taiao (environment) and how these are held together in balance.
