5 questions, 5 answers

Do you have a favourite colour?

Mother Colour. The use of all the individually selected colours in a painting blended together. I see the colour black as the Mother colour of our universe.

How do you take your coffee?

Nostalgically. I make a stove top every morning. Stove top coffee smells like the coffee you make when you're at the beach camping and got all day to do nothing.

Is there something you can’t live without in your studio?

Podcasts! The ones that counter the neo liberal economically fascist world we are plagued with.

Who is your favourite artist of all time + now? Why?

Lynda Benglis! She is 76, an American sculptor and visual artist known especially for her polyurethane foam, metal, enamel and beeswax paintings and poured latex sculptures, and is incredibly exploratory with materials. She currently lives between New York City, Greece and India.  She confronts the male ethos and any charged subject with fervour. Her works have a handmade organic suggestiveness that disrupts male dominated minimalism. Also Kaari Upson, 46, an artist who lives and works in Los Angeles. The majority of Upson’s career has been devoted to a single series titled The Larry Project – paintings, installations, performances, and films inspired by a collection of one man's personal items she found in 2003.
